The Dale County courthouse will be seeing an upgrade to its phone system.
Often people are trying to get a hold of one of the departments in the building and are stuck with a busy tone. That is because the system is old and outdated.
The Dale County Commission approved the spending of $77,000 to redo the system.
The courthouse will be on the same phone and internet network as the E-911 and government buildings.
County Commission Chairman Mark Blankenship said, “The biggest thing is we will be able to share data from one building to the next. If one building goes down, it’ll stay up because it will feed from the other building.”
The new system will also link up all the extensions between the buildings, making it easier to transfer calls between departments.
