A Houston County deputy will be remembered this week in Washington, nearly a quarter of a century after his death.
Lieutenant Fred McLain suffered a massive heart attack and died in October of 1980 while helping subdue two suspects.
The original application to include Lieutenant McLain’s name on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington was denied. But recently, the application was re-submitted.
Sheriff Glover will join Lieutenant McLain’s widow, Marie, and other family members in Washington Thursday night when fallen officers from across the nation will be remembered during a candlelight vigil.
