Dozens of people filled the lawn Thursday morning at Fort Rucker's Veterans Park to remember soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
It was a time for fellow service members to pay respect to their friends who never came home.
Colonel Mike Dixon spoke about the importance to remember our fallen heroes not just on this holiday, but everyday of the year especially during this time of war.
Then Colonel Dixon placed a wreath in remembrance of those who passed, and those who remain in harms way in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
“I think that men die every day and you see on the news that we are losing soldiers every week so to me Memorial Day is something that should be celebrated every day of the year,” said COL Dixon.
Fort Rucker officials are asking everyone to take a moment of silence Monday at 11 o'clock to remember fallen soldiers.
