Enterprise City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim Reese wanted to clear up some financial misconceptions at Tuesday night's school board meeting.

At a specially called meeting on November 5th board members decided to discuss their finances with the Enterprise City Council, but Superintendent Jim Reese doesn't want any misunderstandings.

“I think a lot of people misperceived what the intent was when Mr. Sparks made the motion to maybe explain our circumstances to the city council. I don't think it's the intent of this school board to go to the city and ask them to raise any more taxes,” says Reese, “We do have some other things we'd like to share with them; some ideas to discuss.”

Although the school board hasn't had to borrow money or dip into any reserves yet, that may change.

“Because some of our state funds won't come to us until April, we will probably have to dip into our reserves some before then for a while that is until those state funds come in,” says Reese, “We hope to replenish those funds once they come in.”

The new high school construction report offered some bad news.

Because of recent rain, the original June 21st completion date has been moved back to mid-July.

It’s still possible to move in this august.

“They know that that academic building has got to be finished and we've got to open school in August and they're well aware of that and I think they're going to make it happen,” says Bob Tomberlin with the Enterprise City Schools.

School board members were also given a demonstration of some new technology that is being used now in classrooms.
