Although the exact date isn't yet known, guard spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Bob Horton, said members of the 214th Military Police Company could return stateside in the next two weeks.
The 214th with detachments in Alexander City and Tuskegee was deployed to Iraq about a year ago in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
It will be a bittersweet homecoming for the unit because of the combat death of Sergeant Aubrey Bell.
The 33-year-old Tuskegee native was killed in a suicide car bomb attack on Oct. 27.
Bell is among 19 Alabamians who have died in combat in Iraq.
