Homicide detectives in Tuscaloosa are expanding their search to find who killed Clay North and Lindsay Whatley, both from the Wiregrass.
The investigation of last year's murders of North and Whatley has moved into other states as police try to find a motive.
Both of the 23-year-old victims were found shot to death in separate units at University Downs Apartments on Nov. 18 2003.
Police say, based on information gathered so far, the victims were not random targets. Substantial amounts of high-quality drugs, apparently packaged for sale, were found at the crime scene. Police said the victims' possible involvement in drug trafficking has increased the list of possible suspects.
Anyone with information about the crime or regarding the friends, associates or acquaintances of Clay North and Lindsay Whatley is asked to call the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit at 205-349- 2121 or Crimestoppers at 205-752-STOP.
