Forty-eight-year-old Lynn Sale was taken by ambulance to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Sunday night. As soon as doctors saw her, they called the Houston County Sheriff's Department.
Forty-eight-year-old Michael Sale of Webb has been charged with domestic violence against his wife.
Friends and family believe Lynn Sale may have been beaten and held against her will for an extended period of time.
Sheriff Lamar Glover says the woman is in bad shape.
Sale is currently on probation for an earlier assault on his wife.
Prosecutors will try to revoke his probation and send him to prison where he will wait to stand trial on the latest charges.
A hearing is set for June 8.
Sale is being held without bond in the Houston County Jail. If his wife dies, he could face a murder charge.
