The investigation continues into a Thursday morning shooting that left one man dead and one woman in critical condition.
The Houston County Sheriff's Office and the Taylor Police Department are working to determine the exact motive, but so far, they say they think the shooting is the result of a domestic altercation.
Thursday morning just after 11AM, the Houston County Sheriff's Department responded to a call in Taylor.
The clerk from a local grocery store called in to report a shooting and multiple injuries to victims.
Sheriff Andy Office with the Houston County Sheriff’s Department said, "Deputies found one white male and one white female with gunshot wounds to the head lying in the parking lot."
The victims are identified as 44-year-old Emmett Thomas Marshall and 35-year-old Letitia Nicole Marshall. Officials say Emmett Marshall approached Letitia Marshall and her boyfriend, pointed the gun at the boyfriend who was holding her 9-month-old child, and then shot Letitia in the head.
He then put the gun to his own head and shot himself.
Investigators are working to determine the motive of the shooting.
Sheriff Office said officials have, "[Spoken] with witnesses and [this] seems to be a result of an ongoing domestic dispute, but we are investigating."
While deputies say only two people were injured, unfortunately, the effects will be felt by many more.
Houston County Sheriff's Department Investigator Bill Rafferty said, "The sad thing is that there are children involved. The mother is at the hospital, but we do know who it [is] and it's a sad day when children are involved."
Several children were in the parking lot when the shooting occurred including two belonging to the boyfriend.
Emmett Marshall's two children were turned over to the Department of Human Resources until a more a permanent solution is decided on.
