MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama soldier killed in Iraq will be laid to rest Wednesday near the nation's Capitol.
Specialist Matthew Bolar of Montgomery died May 3rd when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was 24.
Bolar was a member of 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. He joined the Army in September 2004 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, in November 2005.
Bolar is survived by his parents and his sister.
Bolar will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at 3 p-m today.
