Talladega Prison Uprising

Talladega police said an uprising at the county jail has ended.

A detective with the police department said six inmates who led the uprising have been transferred to other facilities within the county. More than 40 inmates were involved in the uprising.

Overcrowded conditions are being blamed for the uprising. The jail was designed for 120 inmates but currently holds about 200.

The fight was broken up by four jail guards, who were injured, sent to hospitals for treatment and then released.
