State Supreme Court Won't Stop Aaron Jones Execution

ATMORE, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Supreme Court has refused to intervene in Thursday's planned execution of death row inmate Aaron Jones.

He's scheduled to die by lethal injection at Holman prison at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, the state Supreme Court refused his request to vacate the execution date.

His appeal to the U-S Supreme Court is still pending this morning, however.

The 54-year-old Jones of Birmingham, one of the longest-serving death row inmates in Alabama, is scheduled to die for two killings more than 28 years ago in Blount County.
