Stabbing Victim Dies

Dothan Police have made their third capital murder arrest in three weeks. The case began when a woman was stabbed on North Herring Street Monday night.

Police nabbed a suspect but the victim, 18-year-old Alicia Peters, was treated and released at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center and she refused to press charges.

Police Chief John White says doctors later found what appeared to be a problem, possibly on one of the victim's x-rays.

The victim, Alicia Peters was found dead Wednesday morning at a Powell Street residence.

Twenty-three-year-old Leslie Miller was originally charged only with public intoxication. Now he could get the death penalty.

An autopsy has confirmed that Peters died from the wounds she suffered Monday night.

Police say they've recovered a butcher knife that they believe is the murder weapon.

Chief White says there were actually two altercations that night. The first was really more of a brawl involving several people. But, the chief says Miller apparently left and returned with a knife, and forced his way into the home where the woman was stabbed.
