This past weekend, more than two-hundred inmates from the old Walton County jail in DeFuniak Springs were transferred to a new correctional institution.
The 20-million dollar correctional facility is located off Walton County Road 1883 about five-miles north of DeFuniak Springs.
Corrections superintendent, Danny Glidewell, says except for a few small glitches the transfer has gone well.
Once the second pod is complete, the 15-million dollar facility will have a maximum bed capacity of five-hundred.
"We couldn't have asked for it to go any better. When you have new equipment and systems, you'll have some problems and bugs, but happy the way things went," said Glidewell.
Later this month, the Walton County Sheriff's department is expected to move into their new headquarters located adjacent to the correction's facility.
