More pain at the pump

Gasoline prices pushed still closer to three dollars a gallon last week.

In some places, like the West Coast, they're already there. The average price for regular on the West Coast climbed to almost $3.20 a gallon.

According today's daily fuel gauge report from AAA Alabama, the statewide average for regular unleaded is 2.74 a gallon; midgrade fuel is two-96 and the average cost for premium is 3.05 a gallon.

The US Energy Information Administration says for the country as a whole, gas prices jumped almost seven-point-five cents a gallon last week. Regular gas now averages just under 2.88.

Gasoline prices are up a full third since January 29th. Compared to a year ago, they're over 9-cents a gallon higher.
