Saturday night's violent weather nearly claimed a life in the Wiregrass.
John Gillespie was on his porch during the height of the storm at his home in Black.
Within a moment, a lightening bolt hit the roof throwing him more than 15-feet into the air.
John's wife and grandchildren were inside the house.
Mrs. Gillespie says her husband was transported to an area hospital with minor burns.
“My daughter realized he was outside. We looked out and he was trying to climb back to the door to get in. [We then] helped him and he said his legs and feet were on fire," said Gillespie.
Mr. Gillespie suffered similar injuries from a lightening bolt 10 years ago.
