Sessions along with Louisiana senator David Vitter says the federal drug administration has gone overboard in proposing a raw oyster ban.

Their proposed legislation would prohibit the FDA from implementing the post-harvesting processing requirement or other regulations that would prevent the sale and consumption of raw oysters.

"I know the local people will enjoy that and as well as the people down south will enjoy that, it's hard enough for them to make a living as it is now especially in this economy being what it is today. You know we don't need to be throwing any snags out there, that's out there making an honest living," says Crystal River owner Art Mayo.

The bill would require future regulations and guidelines affecting domestic seafood be accompanied by detailed analysis submitted to congress.
