Congressman Terry Everett is making steps to help area farmers after last year's devastating drought.
Everett says farmers have suffered for the past couple of years and because of it congress will have to re-write the farm bill either this year or next.
In the meantime, he has introduced a bill called the "Reservoir Act," which would allow farmers to store water to be used when they need it.
"In addition to that, if we're gonna have enough inexpensive food to feed future generations, we're gonna have to expand acreage we're using to grow food on," said Everett
America's population is expected to hit four billion by the year 2042.
More land is also needed to grow corn for ethanol production.
