A wounded Northwest Florida law enforcement officer says he is humbled by the generosity of residents across the Tri-State.
Bonifay officer Steven Lee was awarded a check made in the amount of $10,693.
The proceeds came from a weekend fundraiser held in his honor at the Chipley Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Last month, officer Lee was shot six-times' by a gunman who had a long history of mental illness. The suspect was killed after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement.
The money raised will go a long way in helping the Lee family with medical and living expenses.
Steven says he's improving physically every day and hopes to be back on the job within six-months.
