Alpha Cams

Seven years ago, the Dothan Police Department began equipping their patrol cars with video cameras. Now a new federal grant will make it possible to finish that project.

This is the sixth year the Dothan Police Department has received the money. It will be used to finish installing car video systems in all the marked police cars. They are called Alpha Cam.

When an officer turns on the car's flashing lights, the camera automatically starts recording. The officers can't erase the tapes or take them out of the cameras.

The department is currently going over the logistics of making the installations. They hope to have the project completed in the next 90 to 120 days.
