Under a plea agreement with prosecutors, 22-year-old Nancy Roseanne Mears "was" expected to be sentenced to 17-years in prison. But, the judge handling the case was not satisfied with the agreement and denied it.
Mears admitted stabbing Hollis Smith during a domestic dispute in October of 2003. Smith was sitting in his car when he was attacked. He drove around the corner from the scene where he apparently died from his wounds.
Mears’ trial is expected sometime this summer.
