Police were called to the house on Shields Court just off Fortner Street around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
The victim's name has not been released pending notification of relatives. The body is that of an elderly man, possibly in his early 60's.
Investigators are treating the case as a homicide after finding evidence that someone may have forced their way into the home.
Co-workers say the man called in sick last Monday and that he failed to show up for work Thursday and Friday.
Police say the victim may have been dead for some time, but neighbors reported seeing nothing suspicious.
No motive has been established in the case.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of the death.
But the victim reportedly suffered severe head injuries.
