Grant Parole Board Hearing

The Alabama Parole Board had considered early release for 37-year-old Sondra Denise Grant. But, District Attorney Doug Valeska convinced the board to deny Grant's parole.

She was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to eight years in prison for killing her own child in April of 1998.

Grant claimed her five-month-old daughter, Kermeesha, fell from a bed. But, doctors compared the baby's injuries to what would happen in a car crash.

However, Grant will be a free woman by the end of the year. Because of the "good time" she accumulated by behaving herself while behind bars, Grant is scheduled to be released from prison this November.
