Farm Center Project

One commissioner says the move could benefit the local economy.

County officials met last month with the farm center's board of directors.

The board wants to "spruce-up" the old place, and add several thousand more seats.

Board-members say, at the very least, the building's wiring and plumbing need to be replaced

District One County Commissioner Wylie Velverton said Friday that expanding the Farm Center could encourage economic development in the surrounding area.

Houston County commissioners will vote Monday on whether to hire an architect to draw up plans for the Farm Center project.
