Dothan Shooting

Sharon Smith was arrested after allegedly shooting her common law husband, Stephen Brackins.

Dothan Police said the couple had been involved in a domestic dispute when Brackins followed Smith to Whiddon Street.

Authorities said the suspect then pulled out a revolver and shot the victim in the chest. Brackins ran to the 600 block of Chickasaw Street, where he was found and transported to a local hospital. He is listed in stable condition.

Smith was caught on Burdeshaw Street and arrested without incident.

She has been charged with assault.
