Hartford Bats

Bats have once again become a health concern in one Wiregrass neighborhood.

A number of Hartford residents of West Line Avenue requested the city council condemn and burn two abandoned homes.

They say thousands of bats are nesting in them. They say the bats pose a rabies threat and the smell of bat droppings is forcing families to stay indoors.

Hartford Mayor Gene Brannon says he will talk with the owner of the abandoned home. He’ll seek permission for the city to burn the structures, and hopefully rid the neighborhood of the bats.
