The Dale Medical Center in Ozark is hoping to better its outreach to the community by creating a health care authority to replace the current health care association.
The hospital has been an association for 61 years, which officials say has kept it from competing with other health care authorities.
With the move to an authority, the hospital will now be able to expand its services outside the county line, venture with other authorities and be more eligible for financing.
Chief Executive Officer Vernon Johnson, of the Dale Medical Center says, “This will open doors that we can look at other options and ventures with other entities out there, [which] will provide and improve the health care services for the city, the county and the surrounding area.”
Dale Medical Center leaders have been approved by the Ozark City Council to create the authority.
They will go before the Dale County Commission next Monday.
