Suspicious 911 Calls

Police are still investigating a series of suspicious phone calls made to 911, but they may now have a suspect in the case. It’s a complex case and police have been comparing notes on the investigation.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday, a woman who gave the name Sherry Walker called 911 and said she was in a car just off Campbellton Highway near Dothan.

She said a man named Henry Russaw had broken into the car and was choking and stabbing her. That’s when the line went dead.

About 8 hours later, a man called 911 claiming he had killed his wife and dumped her car and body off the Campbellton Highway.

This prompted officials to have extra security posted around the woman's children at a Dothan school. Then a man called 911 to say he was going to pick up those children and he would take care of anyone who got in his way.

Officers were again posted at Girard Elementary School, but nothing happened.

The only Henry Russaw police have been able to find so far is 75 miles away in Bullock County and he claims to know nothing about the case.

Investigators tell News 4 they were able to locate a potential witness late yesterday afternoon, and that the woman they questioned has confessed. They expect to have more information about this bizarre case late Friday.
