McNair to Get New Sentencing

A Henry County killer who was sentenced to die will now be re-sentenced.

A federal judge has ordered Willie McNair to be re-sentenced, 13 years after he originally got the death penalty for stabbing Ella Foy Riley to death near Abbeville.

McNair’s guilt is not in question, but even if he gets another death sentence, District Attorney Doug Valeska says the lengthy appeals process will start all over again.

Henry County court officials have been ordered to hold another sentencing hearing for McNair within 90 days, but the ruling could be appealed by the attorney general's office.
