There could soon be no more "Troy State University". That’s because Troy State administrators are considering dropping the word "state" from the university's name.
Right now, the main campus in Troy and the Dothan and Montgomery campuses are moving toward a single university.
School officials say over the years, the university has adjusted its name several times reflecting the growth and changes at the institution.
The chancellor will make a decision in April as to whether to bring it to the board of trustees.
