A state Senate committee has rejected half of the trustees that Governor Riley appointed to the board of Alabama A and M University.
The Senate Confirmations Committee voted against Riley's selection of Huntsville businessman Hall Bryant and against insurance agent Velma Tribue of Cowarts. Committee Chairman E. B. McClain says there had been complaints from alumni about both appointees.
The Confirmations Committee approved Riley's appointment of Montgomery attorney Lewis Gillis and nursery owner Oliver Washington of Theodore. Then a short while later the full Senate approved the two.
