Do Not Call

The Federal Communications Commission says it has received almost 10,000 complaints from people regarding telemarketers who continue to call them despite the government's do-not-call list.

The FCC also says that eight companies have been cited but that none has been fined. Each, however, has been warned that future violations could bring a penalty of up to $11,000 per incident.

Among the eight cited were First Finance of Tempe and Cactus Cash Incorporated and Dynasty Mortgage, both of Phoenix.

The Federal Trade Commission, which is administering the list, has received more than 150,000 complaints.

The 10th U-S Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed a lawsuit brought by the telemarketing industry seeking to abolish the do-not-call list.
