Drought Meeting

A regional drought meeting is scheduled for Friday at Troy State University in Troy.

The meeting will be a forum to discuss a drought plan for 14 counties in Southeast Alabama.

The Alabama Drought Assessment and Planning Team as well as the Alabama Department of Economic and community affairs are sponsoring the meeting.

Gov. Don Siegelman said that the state should take steps to lessen the devastating effects of droughts in Alabama.

The meeting is this Friday at 10 a.m. in the Trojan Center Theater at TSU, which was formerly the Adams Center.

Residents of Southeast Alabama are encouraged to attend and suggest ways to deal water shortages.
