DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A Houston County jury convicted a Dothan man
of murder in the fatal shooting of another man who paid for crack with a counterfeit hundred-dollar bill.
Circuit Judge Larry Anderson is expected to sentence 32-year-old Zephaniah Moore in May.
The jury announced the verdict Wednesday after hearing testimony and arguments from prosecutors that Moore
supplied crack to a woman who sold it for him.
Police believe the woman sold some of the crack supplied by Moore to 51-year-old Travis Earl Stringer in December 2005.
They believe the woman then called Moore after she learned Stringer paid for the crack with a counterfeit bill. Police said Moore responded and eventually shot Stringer in front of his mother's home.
Moore's attorney, Joey Sheffield, claimed the state didn't prove Moore was the shooter and said police were told Moore was somewhere else when the murder occurred.
