Jury selection began in the trial for a Dothan man charged with capital murder.
Twenty-two-year-old Antonio Jones is accused in the beating death of an elderly Dothan woman.
The body of 80-year-old Ruth Kirkland was found in her Stadium Street home on New Year’s Eve of 1999.
Her car had been stolen and Jones was arrested while driving the car less than an hour after the crime was discovered.
During a preliminary hearing in the case, investigators testified that Jones admitted he was present at the time of the murder but he claims someone else actually killed the woman.
No one else has ever been charged in the case and sources say DNA evidence links Jones to the crime.
Opening arguments are scheduled for tomorrow morning.
