Farmers across the tri-states are busy planting peanuts and for the first time in a decade, growers may see a major profit.
The annual Panhandle Peanut Short Course took place in Marianna. Several of the country's most notable peanut experts discussed favorable market conditions, extremely poor crops in Argentina, and how India will translate into a greater demand for U.S. peanuts.
University of Florida researcher, Dr. Dan Gorbet, is credited with developing several varieties of peanuts.
With a good season, area growers will turn a profit. With February’s above average rainfall, growers are finding favorable planting conditions for this year's crop.
