Sen. Richard Shelby says money is headed to Alabama to help some families buy a car.
Shelby says $500,000 from the federal transit administration for job access and reverse commute programs will go to help people in Birmingham, Dothan, Huntsville, and Montgomery.
The money aims to support family car loan programs operated by The Ways to Work, Incorporated.
The money can be used to make loans to low-income families so they can buy a car to get to and from work.
