Smith Investigation

The investigation into the resignation of a former Dothan police captain may soon be expanded.

In a letter faxed to our newsroom, Citizens’ Supervisory Committee Chairman Mike Tew said the committee voted unanimously to remove the parameters of an investigation being conducted by the Dothan Personnel Board.

The letter was addressed to personnel board chairman Gary Griffin.

Griffin’s board is looking into the circumstances surrounding the resignation of Dothan police Captain Jim smith.

Smith was allowed to resign after Dothan Police Chief John White said Smith wrote anonymous letters. The letters accused the chief and others in the Dothan police department of improper behavior.

The Dothan personnel board meets Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
