Dale County was the only county out of the four-most damaged in our area to not receive any public assistance, but some federal aid is coming soon.
A federal lawmaker announced Tuesday the county will get individual assistance to help with temporary housing, counseling for post-disaster trauma, low-interest loans and grants and other aid.
Dale County officials estimate at least $3 million dollars in damage to the Echo community from last week's tornado.
Officials say there are between 20 to 35 homes and between 16 to 18 chicken houses heavily damaged or destroyed.
Disaster victims are urged to call the toll-free Tele-Registration number at 1-800-621-FEMA for assistance.
