IT Department Now Responsible for Pagers

Dothan's interim city manager has taken the city's paging system out of the hands of the police department.

Jerry Corbin says there has been talk for the past two years of making the Information Technology or IT Department responsible for the city's paging system.

Corbin hopes his decision will help resolve any recent controversy.

In a memo released last yesterday, Dothan’s city manager informed Police Chief John White that all of the city pager's systems maintenance and operation would be transferred to it's newly created IT Department.

In the memo Corbin says "the ongoing controversy over the city's pager system" played a role in his decision.

Chief White says both he and the police department fully support the new measure.
