The old Geneva County high school has plenty of history and now, the 78-year-old school has been given a new name and a new lease on life.
People came from as far away as Arizona and California for the dedication. Most have one thing in common; they graduated from the old high school.
After a massive restoration project, it’s now called the Johnny Hughes Community Center.
It contains Hartford’s library, museum, and several state offices. The center is named after Hartford banker Johnny Hughes, who spent 25-years as mayor.
Individuals or organizations can also book the auditorium at the Hughes Community Center.
The center was built through a combination of state grants and private donations.
