A decision has been made on the consolidation proposal for Dothan city schools. The school board voted last night to drop any further discussion on the controversial matter.
After several public forums and many phone calls by concerned parents, a majority of the board felt it was time to put the consolidation issue to rest.
While two board members expressed desire to have an outside organization look into the matter, the others said the public has spoken.
One parent News 4 spoke with says he's just glad that the issue now has closure.
The board did decide to have the education foundation and a citizens group to recommend other ways to help the school system raise student achievement scores and save taxpayers money.
