City School Consolidation

The Dothan City School Board plans to report at tonight's meeting on what they've heard at several public forums held over the past couple of weeks. The forums have dealt with the issue of school consolidation.

Dothan school superintendent Leon Hobbs and school board member Gayla White appeared on Sunday’s Weekend Edition. They say two of the four options have already been eliminated because they would involve closing schools.

Plan "B" would consolidate Dothan and Northview High Schools, which would make it the largest high school in the state. Hobbs says there are some advantages to having all the students on one campus.

The board could decide tonight to continue to look into consolidation or to abandon the idea altogether.

If you would like to attend tonight's school board meeting, they meet at 5:00 at the Board of Education office on Dusy Street or you can log onto their website at www.dothank12.al.us for more information.
