Proposed Education Budget

Governor Bob Riley’s education budget proposal for next year recommends restoring textbook and technology funding.

While he is glad to see the governor attempting to stand up for school funding during the legislative session, Houston County Superintendent Kenneth Lord says he wishes funding could be re-instated for the 60-teaching positions the district has lost over the past year.

Lord says one item that he is glad to see in Riley’s proposal is the return of teacher and professional development.

The superintendent says this type of training provides educators with useful tools to better teach students.
