One of the passengers hurt during an emergency evacuation of a jumbo jet in New York Sunday remains in critical condition.

The Spanish jumbo jet had safely returned to Kennedy Airport after one of its engines caught fire shortly after take off.

A spokesperson at Iberia Airlines said the plane had passed an overhaul inspection last February and had logged only 2,000 flight hours.

The cause of the engine fire is under investigation. In all, seven people were taken to a hospital with injuries from the evacuation.
