There is no new information in the beating death of an elderly Samson man that happened early Friday morning.

Samson Police Chief Jerome Cobb said they are still looking at leads in the case.

The murder of 80-year-old Rubin Spicer occurred inside his house on Main Street in Samson. Cobb said it's believed that Rubin Spicer was killed early Friday morning.

Spicer's brother-in-law found his body that afternoon. Police have not found the murder weapon. They believe it was a hammer, or some object that would cause blunt force trauma.

Although there's no suspect at this time, police said they have collected important physical evidence.

Cobb said if anyone knew Spicer or any of his friends, or if you have any information at all, call the Samson Police Department at 334-898-7118.

Spicer's body has been sent to Montgomery for an autopsy. The Alabama Bureau of Investigators is assisting in the search for the murderer.
