Whiddon Hearing

A Henry County woman indicted in one of the largest embezzlement schemes in the history of the Wiregrass had her bond reduced.

Susan Whiddon faces 175 counts of forgery and theft of property. She's accused of stealing $1.4 million from the Abbeville Engineering Firm where she once worked. Whiddon's bond was also set at $1.4 million.

Defense attorney's called that figure excessive, but District Attorney Doug Valeska disagreed.

Circuit Judge Larry Anderson ruled that Whiddon's bond was excessive on 11 of the charges.

He reduced the total amount to just over $1.2 million. When we last checked, Whiddon was still in jail awaiting trial.
