Coffee County Road Construction

Four-years-ago, then Alabama Governor Don Siegleman announced the four-laning of Highway 84 from Andalusia to the Georgia line.

The project is finally taking shape, but not everyone is happy about it.

In central Coffee County, houses are being moved or being demolished and it's part of the four-laning of Highway 84.

The new four lanes will also include a bypass around new Brockton and some businesses have concerns that a bypass may divert traffic from New Brockton.

Besides Coffee County, the four-laning of Highway 84 is also taking place in adjacent Covington County.

The four-laning of Highway-84 is scheduled for completion Jan. 1 2005.
