Groundhog Day

Punxsutawney Phil

Don't put your sweaters and coats away yet. The nation's top weather-telling rodent says winter isn't over.

This is Groundhog Day, and bright and early this morning, Punxsutawney Phil peeked out to give his annual forecast in Pennsylvania.

Perhaps it was the spirited crowd, some wearing furry groundhog hats, chanting "Phil! Phil! Phil!" that coaxed him to the surface. Maybe it was the fireworks or the night of rock music.

But as thousands of winter-weary folks booed their disapproval, Phil spied his shadow. Tradition says that means six more weeks of cold temperatures.
