Organs As Tax Deductions

Tax Deductions For Organ Donors

Wisconsin will now give people a tax deduction for the expense of donating an organ.

It's the first state to make such an offer. Under the new law, people who donate a liver, lung, pancreas, kidney, intestines or bone marrow can deduct up to ten thousand dollars in expenses for such things as travel and lost pay.

In signing the law, the governor said organ donors "who give of themselves so generously" shouldn't have to "suffer financial hardship."
