Houston County is in its best financial shape in a number of years.

That was the gist of county administrator Roy Robert’s annual financial report to Houston County commissioners.

Roberts says the county finished last year with more than $4 million in the bank, thanks to an improving economy and an increase in revenues.

Roberts says keeping $4 million in reserve helps the county prepare for unexpected expenditures, such as natural disasters.
